Most importantly, off-page search engine optimization is imperative to your success because it gives search engines, like Google, Yahoo, or Bing, a better understanding of how other people or websites might rank your particular website. If you have a highly authoritative mention on a website, search engines will be more likely to put your website higher up in the results page when someone types in anything related to who you are or what you do.
